Things to do in May
6 May – The brass bands – Fanfare
We all love a good brass band and here in the Valais, they play a key role. Each band is affiliated to a particular political party; there are usually two bands per village for each main party – the PLR and the PDC. Eléonore’s dad has been in the brass band ‘L’avenir de Sembrancher’ for 62 years. Every year there is a festival in Entremont and a big one in the Valais. This year in May they are celebrating 109 years of the band and they will be wearing their new uniforms. We’ll all be there supporting them on Saturday and Sunday in Sembrancher, so come along and join us for a truly local Swiss experience.

5/6 May – Final of the cow fighting – Aproz
Since 1971, the final has been held in Pra Bardi, Aproz. Don’t be confused with the fact that the event is now called ‘The National cow fight final in Sion’ – it still takes place in the same place!

10 – 12 May – Caves Ouvertes – Valais
The vineyards open their cellar doors to visitors – we love sitting on a sunny terrace with a nice chilled glass of Petite Arvine (or two!) Cheers!
